Late Sunflowers

The last day of August saw The Candies heading back to the Charente for an evening wedding party.  It feels like we’ve spent half of our summer in this corner of France and by coincedence, this was the second wedding in this tiny village.

Driving in, we passed the beautiful and imposing 15th century Chateau de Chillac and a field of late sunflowers.  In June and July the sunflower fields spread out like a blanket as far as the eye can see, but in all my years in France, I dont remember seeing them at this time of year… what a real treat.

The wedding was held at Chez Les Rois – a very pretty gite complex that specialises in parties and weddings.  The guests enjoyed their meal in the marquee as we set up in a large room beside one of the complex pools.

The heat of summer is cooling and as the sun dipped below the trees the dancing started… and these lovely folks danced and sang along with us all night. (we loved that even the beer was vintage!)

What can we say… our weddings are great!  Today’s was no different… beautiful bride, beautiful people, beautiful venue!  Thank you everyone for the very very warm welcome!
